How can I configure BSNL broadband to dial up user name and password in Windows 2000 Professional?

Q. How can I configure BSNL broadband to dial up user name and password in Windows 2000 Professional? I have a ADSL router. It requires to dial username and password. It is a piece of cake in XP but my other computer has Windows 2000. So how can I connect it to the internet? Thank you everyone!

A. To configure your ut300r2u router follow the following steps :-

for ethernet users type 192.168.1.1 as URL [ address bar of web -browser ] for USB users type 192.168.1.2 into web browser

you will be greeted by a username and password screen .

if you arent to username screen , and are getting a page not found error . try following open command prompt type ping 192.168.1.1.if you get a reply then it s fine , you gotta reset u r Router , press the tiny black button located between power and LAN wire socket on modem s back side and hold it for sometime , till your router reboots [ LED s switch down nd start ]

in the login screen add your router username and password [ default is admin (username and password both) ]

log in into router with the username and password now you land onto router main page

from here you can follow wizard or do changes by going to relevant page. wizard and steps of wizard

Click on run wizard button [ or wizard button ] on the main page [ doesnt works in Firefox ,this is for IE users , firefox users plz skip steps of wizard ]

WIZARD STEPS-

step 1- when you click on run wizard a pop up appears , it just tell about step that we are gonna follow for setting up our modem [ ut300r2u ] just click next button

step 2 This is selecting time zone step , so select time accordingly

step 3 - this is a crucial step as we select connection type from this step

1)dynamic IP address 2)static IP address 3)PPPoe/PPPoa 4)Bridge Mode as we are configuring the router in bridge mode [ need windows dialer or linux command pon dsl-provider to set up the connection manually ] we select Bridge mode

step4- after selecting the connection type ,it s time to select Dynamic IP- set VPI to 0 and VCI to 35 and connection type to 1483 Routed LLC-MUX

The final step, reboot the router for FIREFOX users \ Single step Configuration -

Set vpi to zero and vci to 35 and connection type to bridge now your connection is configured in bridge mode .

How do I restart internet explorer when the computer doesn't fully start up?
Q. Ok, I tried downloading internet explorer 6 onto my windows 2000 pro..and an error message pops up saying it needs to be shut down and an error log is being created. Okay so I restarted the computer and this time it wont start up completely and the same message pops up except at the end it says that I have to restart the program. I tried figuring this out on my own, but it just not that easy when the computer doesn't fully start up...Have any ideas on this?

A. Try opening it in Safe Mode. That would let you do it safely without any error logs.

How can i upgrade my computer to windows 2000?
Q. i have windows 98 and i want to upgrade to windows 2000 for free. is their something i can download to do that? and is it easy?

A. Today, Microsoft will not allow you to install an operating system without it being registered!

Too, why would you want WIN2000, Microsoft support for that OS is dying?

Here are major issues that you should consider doing any thing to your present computer!

DO not take out WIN 98! Your system is running, do not change that!

To change you MUST have 1GB of RAM!
READ your MOTHERBOARD USERS GUIDE!

RAM is cheap, Make sure you have 1GB of RAM and buy a second hard drive for any NEW Operating System that you want to install.
